Does anybody have any objection to giving typikal and neek a set? They both want to be involved in the group again and seem pretty keen AND we do have 6 hours to fill.

yes and no.
dishing out sets to folk who havent bothered to turn up to any/most meetings and submitted nothing original is a bit defeatist.
typikal's name has been bandied about since day one in regards to the set so it wouldnt bother us too much at all... i was expecting it, but anyone else wanting slots who hasnt contributed can suck a D and get the F O
if they're serious about getting involved then lets do... but volition is more than just a vehicle for us and our tracks, mind!

yea certainly mate, I've spoke to mickey and he says he nver got involved because he never knew what was going on otherwise he would've. Him and neek were cutting about at the start of volition but sorta fell out of it which is easily done.
I thought I would run it past everybody first though, if anybody has any strong objections then obviously the core group come first in something like that, however I think we should be encouraging micky and neek to be involved and not shun them for their previously poor attitudes.

I say give them 20 min sets, but give the folk thats had more input up to now the choice of when to go on before them or whatever. I think thats pretty fair cause we'd have to draw the line somewhere if 10 more acts decided they wanted a set.

Im just conscious of time constraints so 10-15 set should be cool Id reckon. And obviously they will just be slotted in where theres a free slot once everybody else is happy with when their set is. It wont be like this when we work out a system for this sort of thing and when they get more involved.

fifteen minutes is a good number...thats like 3 solo tracks on average along with all the collab tracks we'll be doing that we've submitted for volition

me and bill had a wee talk about this today, if everyone could bring a list of what they would like to perform from their own catalogue and how long the tracks would take to perform to t he meeting (averaging -we estimate- around 15-20 minutes, 30-35 minutes for any acts doubling up their efforts together) then we can work out a more realistic schedule in regards to what kinda time frames we'll be looking at and whats fair for everyone. obviously, we wouldnt want to cut anyones preffered performance time down but in regards to the night, the mixtape tracks will take priority over the solo tracks. bee - we wont have a definite number for how long each set will be till we have a better idea of what everyone wants to perform and how they will be performing (solo, double etc.) maybe a period of 40-45 minutes performance time between breaks... any longer and i imagine folk will just go out for fags/to the bar etc. regardless of wether folk are still performing personally, i think my own set will average around ten to fifteen minutes, at the very most... which i think is a pretty responsible amount of time on stage for solo shit (excluding volition tracks), mind we still have an open mic, raffle, breaks as well as the polmont tracks to consider not to mention differentiating between DJ, emcee and producer slots... i'm afraid solo stuff will have to take a back seat to just about everything else if the night is to run smooth and fair. ideally, we would like to be left with excess time as opposed to giving person A 20 mins and having to cut person Z down to ten minutes because of time constraints towards the end. this was all just the result of a couple of hour brain storming session but it did yield some pretty positive and solid results, all of which will be up for debate at the meeting. apologies if i'm coming across all authorative but don't take it to heart bruvs and bruvettes... i've had shitloads of caffeine, yo.
