i personally think t-shirts are just wasted money. and is there any need for actual posters and physical means of advertising? i know folk moan about using only the net and word of mouth but i personally find out about more gigs through the various channels of the internet than by flyposting or anything of the like. we need to be realistic about the clientelle that a night like this will attract (probably not average joe who passes a poster) need to think about keeping expenses to a minimum as well.
though, stickers might be a nice wee touch... folk do like stickers. i remember going to a dropzone night like 5 years back and every table had a few dropzone logo stickers left on the table for folk to take away. was cool, a wee souvenir, if you will
had a thought as well of maybe getting a few of the more graffiti minded to whack together something on a canvas as the shows going on in full view of the crowd then raffling it off to the ticket holders at the end (numbered tickets, of course) this would be well within our means
just trying to be realistic, guys... sorry if some of it was negative

All very valid points.
I think stickers would be amazing, people do love a good sticker. You do raise a good point about means of promotion. I agree that most people probably find out about these things on the net but i still think it would be worth having some form of physical promotion as theres still those old school cats who are scared of the internets. Plus, if we dont end up using them all then it will make good decoration for the night to have flyers laying around and maybe a few of the posters up on the walls and main door, etc... So maybe we wont need the double flyers? might be ok with the 200, maybe 300 at a push just to make sure everybody involved will get a few souvenir from the night.
If we get a good enough quote for the t-shirts then I think it would be a great to have everyone who was performin or involved to be wearing one but at the original quote, £15 each, it might be a bit too much.
The canvas idea has me very aroused. I think that would be amazing and, like you say, wouldnt be too hard to arrange, financially or otherwise.
Cass, negativity is good. Its what makes positivity work. Like you say, its being realisitic and that is what we really need to be doing with this. Make it amazing within our means.
As for the funds, im pretty sure that if were using the "official" funds, which im going to be talking to john/darren about hopefully on saturday, then we would need to put it back into volition otherwise we might be denied any more funding or worse.... But as you say... what else would we spend it on?

i'll be rocking my invisible man costume. no doubt
in regards to the canvas idea as well... we can only use pens (no way the bar would ok aerosols), and we need to lay down a massive bit of cloth/tarp and kind of have it blocked off. if pivo pivo are going to allow anything like that at all we have to take massive precautions to leave the venue as it was when we started
i say we slip the polmont tracks into the breaks between sets along with other background music...
by the way guys i'll give you a heads up here. i'm afraid i've caught something off of my girlfriend/her son that has inflamed my throat so there's every chance i wont have my last verse recorded by the 20th. i feel like a right plum as it was kind of me that suggested the 20th at the meeting but it's all ready to go... memorised the verse and everything, just literally cant deliver it. as soon as this shit has cleared up all systems are go. it literally will not be long, it feels better than what it did y/day so tomorrow is still definetely an option.
free entry for folk in costume?

yeah we canny use spray paint but in fat monster pens would be alrite, wae regards to the mess we could put them up on the backdrop so that folk could see it when looking at the stage and also that means pished folk cany mess wae them before the raffel. i do really like this idea, it may be the best one yet

Sorry to hear about the throat issue, however I think the whole "girlfriend/girlfriend's son" bit is a cover up for something slightly more seedier. There is going to be a week of straight mixing of vocals after the 20th so if you can get it within that then it might still be cool?
As for the polmont tracks, either in the breaks between sets or maybe one slot by a dj playing them all? Its kinda hard to make a big thing about tracks when there is nobody actually performing them, however we should still try. The polmont tracks and our tracks should be given equal importance so we need to make that happen somehow.
As for free entry for dicks in costume... I really like the idea but given that its halloween, I think alot of people might be in costume and therefore... we might not make back enough to cover costs which ultimately is necessary if we are to put on any more nights in the future.
What are the chance of getting some of the night filmed?
Tickets... if there is a capacity of 100 in pivo pivo then we could just go for the 100 tickets just incase the stars are on our side and we get a big turn out. Not likely, but worth a shot.
Ill have a little think about this.

Once the tracks are done, I think the main thing is the next meeting. Shouldnt take too long to pick the tracks so we should get stuck into organising the night. Darren should be there, ill speak to john and see if he can make it also. As many people we can get the better since this is mostly about contacts/past experiences. I know it seems like a long time till halloween but we need to get this thing going as soon as possible to make sure we get a decent turnout.
